We're having a heatwave - a tropical heatwave etc!! Who can remember Marilyn Monroe singing that?
A bit of advice:
If it's too hot for you to walk barefoot on the pavement, it's too hot for your dogs! No dog died from missing a walk, but they can die from heat exhaustion.... Only walk them when it's cooler - first thing or later in the evening.
Let them go at their own pace, they may not want to run about chasing a ball. They might flop in the shade. Be mindful that it's HOT!!
Don't leave them in your car - it can be like a furnace - and put off shopping etc until you have taken them back home. If it's unavoidable, make sure you park in the shade and leave all 4 windows down a few centimetres so some air gets in!
Unless you're walking somewhere that has access to water make sure you take a bottle with you for them.
Most importantly, if your dog shows sign of being affected by the heat and you are concerned - give us a call at the clinic 02084593010!!
